Web Drive Support Now with web sharing!

Why use it

Web sharing

To create a web share, simply create a folder named web in the root of your storage. So that will create a path like

youraccountname.hasfiles.com/storage/web/

Everything you put in the web folder, will be web-shared, and accessible at the URL of

youraccountname.hasfiles.com/web/

No login and password required to access web share. So you can just send people link to your web folder, and they will be able to browse and download files.

File list

As soon as you place some files to web folder, they will appear in a file list to all the other people. So that when they enter the URL of your web share, they see your files:

Index page

Say you don't want the file list to appear, and you would rather go with a custom page for showing contents. Then you should create a file named index.html (or index.htm) in the web folder (or some of its subfolders).

So that when people enter the URL of a folder with the index file (within your web share), your custom page will be shown instead of the file listing. Just like this:

Custom index page

You can create pages with images, embedded flash, anything. Just refer to those from the html code of your custom index page.

Embedding files in a blog

You can easily embed files from the web folder in your blog, whether those are mp3 or images, or whatever. People visiting your blog will download those files with ease.

For instance, you want to share an mp3 file with people in your blog post. To do so, upload this file to the web subfolder, like

robert.hasfiles.com/storage/web/singalong.mp3

This file now can be linked from your blog with the web share URL of the file:

http://robert.hasfiles.com/web/singalong.mp3

Blogger

Select text you want to be linked, and click Link on the toolbar, then paste the web share URL of the file.

WordPress

Select text you want to be linked, and click Insert/edit link on the toolbar. In the Link URL field, paste the web share URL of the file.

Don't want to share wide?

You can also learn how to share your files with friends only.
